I give the comic strip another 12 hours before the boycotts start up against it. This is great - how mainstream can you get? It's almost like the comic strip is calling it a normal and acceptable event, wow! I won't hold my breath for Family Circus though...

I remember back when they had is character come out, there were huge protests. Lots of papers wouldn't run the strips dealing with it and lots of people called for the cancellation of the strip. Fortunately it survived...all these years later (more than 10 I think), let's hope there is less kerfuffle about it.

Thanks for posting this. Truly touching. This appeared in the Chicago Tribune yesterday and things seem (so far) to be "all quiet on the Midwestern front." As much as we all need to continue to strive for full equality, it can also be a somewhat comforting sign of progress when something like this comic strip can be viewed as a non-event.
